1.3.3 SECTORIAL EMPLOYMENT


Next it is important to look at sectorial employment (although we will look at the ICT sector more in detail further on) and its interactions with the rest of the economy. In the following graphs the sectorial employment of our study countries is shown. In this sense it is important to have an idea of the weight that the ICT sector in each of the countries. In the following graph this is shown in terms of employment9. In 2006 all the study countries the proportion of human resources in science and technology in the different economic sectors (manufacturing, and services) is lower than the EU averages in the case of men (except Spain), and higher in the case of women (except Italy). This is related to the much higher presence of women in the service sector. Female presence in the manufacturing sector is much lower than that for men and under EU averages.
